About

Medical Technologists, also known as a Clinical Laboratory Scientists, are healthcare professionals trained in the laboratory analysis of medical samples such as blood, urine, tissue, and other body fluids. They play a crucial role in diagnosing and monitoring diseases and conditions by performing a wide range of laboratory tests, including chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and immunology. Medical technologists operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment, analyze test results, and ensure the accuracy and quality of data. Their work is essential for aiding physicians in making informed decisions about patient care. Medical technologists typically work in hospital laboratories, clinics, research institutions, and diagnostic centers, contributing to the advancement of medical science and patient well-being through precise and reliable laboratory testing.

While pursuing a bachelor's degree at Tennessee Tech, students will follow the suggested career track coursework and engage in related co-curricular activities to prepare for the graduate professional school of their choice.

Most health professional schools and allied health science programs will require academic coursework before students are admitted into the program. Upon completion of your degree from Tech, you will have much of the required coursework completed before applying to medical technology programs.
