The Tennessee Tech University Counseling Center offers brief, short term, solution focused therapeutic interventions for Tennessee Tech students. Eligible students are allotted 12 sessions per academic year starting with the Fall Semester.

Because of the substantial increase in the demand for services over the past several years, the Counseling Center has needed to institute a limit of 12 sessions per academic year starting August 26, 2019 with the start of the Fall semester. This limit does not include emergencies, consultations, intake sessions or group counseling appointments. If a student needs additional care when their limit is reached, they will be given a list of providers in the community. Students will still be eligible for crisis services, groups and workshops. Students with more complex, severe or chronic psychological or issues related to substance use that would be best served through long-term therapy are referred to an outside provider in the community. We are available to assist students with this process.

Tennessee Tech University is not only committed to the academic development and success of its students, but also to the overall personal well-being of each student. This includes, but is not limited to, their mental health.

Schedule an Appointment ›

To schedule an appointment, contact our office by phone (931-372-3331).  You may also go to the Eagle Wellness Portal or stop by the office located in Room 307 of the Roaden University Center.

The staff members of the TN Tech Counseling Center respectfully request that you not use e-mail to schedule an appointment.  This is because the confidentiality of email cannot be guaranteed and also because we do not maintain 24-hour access to e-mail accounts.  We may only check email once per day and not on weekends or when away from the office.  For all of these reasons, it is our policy not to schedule appointments via e-mail.

Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Plan: We Are #HopeStrongEagles

The Tennessee Tech Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Plan has been designed and put in place for the campus community at large to promote and achieve that plan.

Clinical services are provided by professional clinicians holding an active license in the State of Tennessee.  You may also be asked to see a graduate clinician who is directly supervised by a licensed clinician.

Mental Health Screenings

Are you not sure of the symptoms you are noticing?  You may choose to complete a screening tool prior to your first appt.  The screening tools do not replace a clinical diagnosis, but may assist you in starting a dialog with your counselor about the symptoms you have noticed. Screeners are also available to include an educational component regarding alcohol and marijuana usage.  All of our screeners are confidential.

Mental Health

The following screening tool is available to help identify areas of concern such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and alcohol issues.
