Instructors: Academic Integrity Tips & Resources
- » First-Day Toolkit
As referenced in the video above, please download this instructor toolkit to discuss academic integrity with your students the first day of class! This toolkit is a PowerPoint, which includes a video for your students, slides you can edit to reflect your class rules, and case studies to encourage student discussion and questions.
- » Syllabus & Class Setup
Be sure to obtain the most recent academic integrity statement from the university's Course Syllabus Information Guide.
If you would like the AIO to review your syllabus for academic integrity issues or gaps, email your syllabus to AIO@tntech.edu.
- » Classroom Culture
As referenced in the video above, students are obligated to follow Policy 216: Student Academic Integrity, whether or not they sign an academic integrity pledge in your class. See UCSD's pledge for example text.
Also referenced in the video, the Academic Integrity Student Quiz has already been created for you to use as part of your class. They enter your email address when they take the quiz, and you get an email with the student's grade. Students typically take it more seriously if you only accept the first quiz score and do not allow them repeated quiz submissions.
- » Assessments
Related to the video above, the University at Buffalo has many sample academic integrity statements for assessments.
Please visit TLC Testing for information about their proctoring.

- » Violation Procedure Overview
If you suspect one of your students is involved in an academic integrity violation, you must be actively involved to ensure the process is fair and accurate. Please watch the video below for an overview of the process. Visit Instructors: Procedures & Deadlines for a detailed description of the procedure steps from the instructor's point of view, including deadlines.
