Parking Update
Temporary campus parking and construction changes
Students, faculty and staff:
Please be advised of upcoming temporary parking and construction changes impacting our campus:
Parking improvements over Spring Break
During the upcoming Spring Break (March 17-21), the gold-zoned parking lots behind T.J. Farr Building and Henderson Hall will be closed for pavement repair. Parking will remain available in the area directly behind Henderson Hall.
This work is being completed over the break to minimize disruptions. Facilities personnel aim to have the lots reopened in time for the return to class on Monday, March 24.
Construction impact for Johnson Hall renovation
As we look ahead to the upcoming renovations of Johnson Hall, the construction fencing around the site of the old Foster Hall will expand to encompass Johnson Hall beginning Wednesday, March 5 (tomorrow).
The parking spots and sidewalk along the west side of Johnson Hall on Peachtree Avenue will fall within the construction perimeter and no longer be active, as will the sidewalk on A Street between Johnson Hall and the former Foster Hall.
Parking spots and the sidewalk along the north of Johnson Hall will remain open, as will the sidewalk between Johnson Hall and Pennebaker Hall.
Crowds expected for TSSAA Championship
Tennessee Tech is proud to host the TSSAA D-II Basketball Championships beginning this Thursday, March 6 and continuing through Saturday, March 8 at the Hooper Eblen Center. Large crowds are expected and some parking directly adjacent to the Hoop will be reserved for event guests.
Additional parking is available across Willow Avenue. As always, shuttle buses will be available to bring students, faculty and staff to the center of campus. See shuttle routes here.
Thank you for your patience as we make these improvements to campus and prepare to welcome guests for the TSSAA Championship!

Engineering Quad Parking Lot - Traffic Pattern Modification
Due to several concerns being brought to facilities attention by faculty and staff, on Monday, February 24th, the traffic pattern at the engineering quad parking lot will be modified. The area currently allows for a 2-way traffic at both entrances, but this will be changed to a one-way traffic pattern, with the east end being the entrance, and the west end being the exit. Additionally, 4 "facilities" parking spots will be added to further reduce congestion at the entrance and exit.
What we are doing now
Tech’s Office of Parking and Transportation, in conjunction with campus facilities staff, are actively working to expand and rezone select parking lots in order to minimize the impact on campus parking.
Campus Shuttle
The campus shuttle routes will be impacted with the pedestrian mall project. The new routes, including where the stops will be located are available via the PassioGo! App. Information can be found in each Shuttle Shelter or on the Parking and Transportation webpage.
Visitor Parking
The process for obtaining a visitor permit is streamlined for campus visitors. While campus departments will still need to request permits from the Office of Parking and Transportation for their official visitors, people coming to campus will be able to use their smartphone and a QR code available at visitor spots to obtain their day-use visitor permit.
Parking Garage
Tech has begun the initial planning for multiple parking garages throughout campus. This is a lengthy process and Updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
In the spring of 2024, the Student Government Association (SGA) conducted a Transportation, Parking, and Infrastructure (TPI) Fee Student Survey. It has now closed. With 32% of respondents in favor and 68% not in favor of the proposed fee restructure, the proposal detailed in the survey will not be implemented for the next term. Thank you for voicing your opinion in this poll, and we hope to use your input and to inform future parking proposals.
Future Updates
Tech is committed to keeping you updated with information you can use to minimize the impact of these changes on your daily commute. Please check back regularly to see what these changes are.
