Part-Time Graphic Designer Position
The overall purpose of this job is to provide and create graphic artwork, layout and design for the university's publications, as well as for the university's advertising and marketing efforts. This job requires the preparation of the artwork, layout and design for several publication media.
Specific job duties include designing print publications (layout), illustration (artwork), designing/creating graphics (i.e. logos and wordmarks), preparing publications and designs for print/vendor (pre-press), meeting/brainstorming/communicating with clients and marketing groups, presenting ideas to supervisor/clients, preparing mockups for supervisor/clients, archiving, and organizing and recording projects/files.
Part-Time Hours: up to 29 hours per week
Pay Range: $22-25 per hour depending on skill level

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or completion of art education program. Education in some type of desktop publication design is necessary. This education can be acquired through different types of degree programs like graphic design, graphic arts, journalism, communication, professional communication, visual communication, etc. Programs that require application of the skills being taught should be preferred. The quality of the educational program is important so that the graphic designer can be up to date on trends, techniques, and software. One to three years of work experience is needed. The graphic designer’s job changes with the changes in technology and trends, so experience with the essential functions of the job is necessary, but so is the ability to adapt to change and growth in the industry.
Specific Skills & Software
- Artistic talent and visual communication abilities are necessary.
- Excellent time management skills are needed for juggling multiple projects at a time.
- Knowledge of and expertise in software (Adobe Creative Suite, include InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)
- Knowledge of the pre-press process and file handling.
