Affirmation Station at the Student Services Fair!
August 26th, 11:00am-1:00pm, Centennial Plaza
The 2025 Student Services Fair is a great opportunity for university departments to connect with students, share valuable resources, and promote programs and services. The GSC will also be providing materials to create, share and wear positive affirmation bracelets throughout your semester!

Attune Pitch Deadline!
September 19th, by end of day.
Attune is the Gretta Stanger Center Journal, a student-edited publication that focuses on contemporary issues. Learn more about Attune and the Fall Schedule here!
We accept non-fiction articles and essays, creative non-fiction, fiction, poetry, photography, and other art in any medium that can be printed in our pages. Final contributions should be no more than 750 words or a single 8 1/2 by 11 spread. Contributors may submit multiple pieces for consideration, which should be indicated at the pitch stage. Fall 2025 Theme: Safe spaces/ Path(s) to belonging
Pitches for contributions should be submitted via email to the executive editor by the current semester's pitch deadline. Pitches should be 100-200 words describing the contribution and include the author's affiliation (Tech student, staff, faculty, or community member). Email tacoagan42@tntech.edu.
Craft Club: September Meeting

Aimed to give a dedicated time and space, once a month, for creative engagement, peer connection and collaboration. Much like our past "socials" but with a creative twist!
Many of us crafters, craft alone and maybe only at home. The GSC Craft Club is hoping to connect those people, while also being able to share and learn potential new skills! Bring your own project from home, or work on a semesterly group project. Secure storage available!

Celebrate the work of student artist Alexus Quiroz with us, this semester's winner of the GSC Exhibition Award, at the opening of her exhibition.

Hip Hop with Dr. Heidi Lewis, Make Rappers Rap Again: Interrogating the Mumble Rap Crisis
October 2nd, 6:00pm, Stonecipher Lecture Hall 113
Dr. Heidi Lewis will be a featured speaker on campus, delivering a lecture on hip-hop in support of her new book, Make Rappers Rap Again: Interrogating the Mumble Rap Crisis.
This event is in part to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop
and the contribution of Southern rappers. Dr. Lewis is the author
of the text Make Rappers Rap Again: Interrogating the Mumble Rap
Crisis (Oxford University Press) which examines the current trend
that has inundated and at the same time trivialized hip-hop. In her
lecture she discusses southern rappers and their role and impact
in the latest inaudibility trend but how they have helped redefine
the genre with their regional dialects.

Period Poverty Pack Assembly & Holiday Social
December 4th, 11:00-1:00pm, Tech Pride Room
Period poverty is prevalent all around us. Many people who menstruate struggle to afford period products during their monthly cycle. Here at the Gretta Stanger Center, we recognize period poverty for what it is—a public health crisis. Join us in our fight against period poverty by participating in our period poverty drive.
