THEATRE CONCENTRATION
Welcome to the Theatre Concentration at Tennessee Tech, home of the Backdoor Playhouse–a vibrant cornerstone of creative and theatrical excellence for over seventy years!

The Theatre program operates as part of the School of Music in the College of Fine Arts as an English major concentration. Students focus on the literary traditions and performance arts that come together in the theatrical experience, preparing students for lifelong engagement with the arts while providing a solid foundation for graduate study or any profession that requires teamwork, communication, public speaking, creativity, technical skills, or all of the above.
Our program emphasizes performance and production, with students playing key roles–both onstage and off–in department and student produced productions and events. At our theater, the Backdoor Playhouse, students can star in a production or help create one.
The University Catalog outlines the curriculum for the Performance Concentration, the Technical Concentration, or the Education Concentration.
THEATRE MINOR
The Theatre Minor is designed for students who wish to combine their major program of study with courses that promote theatrical techniques. Education, business, engineering or any profession that requires teamwork and creativity would benefit from a Theatre Minor. For further information about adding a Theatre Minor to any degree, please contact Dr. Colin Hill at cjhill@tntech.edu.
