College of Education Joins...
Lead in Literacy Network

We are proud to announce that Tennessee Tech has accepted an invitation to participate as one of four Educator Preparation Programs in the Lead In Literacy Network.

SCOREThe network is convened by the State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE), a non-partisan, non-profit organization with a mission to bring about transformative change in Tennessee education so all students can achieve success.

This group of four Educator Preparation Providers (EPPs) and four Local Education Agencies (LEAs) are working together to develop solutions for increasing access to strong early literacy/reading instruction for all students in the state. Other network EPPs include Belmont, Lipscomb, and the University of Tennessee.

“Tech’s College of Education has historically championed literacy and reading comprehension skills in all academic disciplines in our educator preparation programs,” said Lisa Zagumny, Dean. “Our dedicated faculty excel in creating meaningful and research-based experiences for emerging educators.”

Together EPP and LEA partners are working to:

Little Girl Reading

1) construct a shared/comprehensive vision for literacy instruction;

2) build EPP candidate literacy knowledge, skills, and high-quality instructional materials;

3) ensure best practices from these efforts improve support for both multi-lingual and neuro-diverse learners.
