Dr. Michael Phillips is a professor who is known for his dedication and passion for students. With a Ph.D. in Human Performance from Middle Tennessee State University, he brings his knowledge-base and experience as a former college basketball coach, strength and conditioning coach, and personal trainer to his classroom helping students think critically and analytically about exercise prescription and statistics.

Throughout his career, Dr. Phillips has displayed an unwavering resolve to fostering a dynamic learning environment. His engaging lectures and experiential learning opportunities within the classroom provoke curiosity among his students, encouraging lively discussions, and innovative thinking. Dr. Phillips’ mentoring extends beyond academics. He takes a vested interest in his students’ spiritual, personal, and professional growth, often discipling them and guiding them in career aspirations.

When he is not working, Dr. Phillips enjoys traveling and the outdoors with his family, discipling men to faith in Jesus Christ, CrossFit®️, and bow hunting. His dedication to knowledge dissemination, paired with his passionate approach to teaching, has left an indelible mark on generations of students, shaping them into citizens who are devoted to physical fitness and genuinely care for the well-being of others.
