RESEARCH PROJECT — Ten Biology Department undergraduates presented the results of their summer CISE research projects on August 22, 2023. GRANT FUNDED — Dr. Justin Murdock was recently awarded two new grants: Identifying tradeoffs in ecosystem services in restored agricultural wetlands. USDA Conservation Easements Assessment Program,  $300,030; and Measuring transfer of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from streams to threatened and endangered bat species. US Army Corps of Engineers, $226,797.

GRANT FUNDED — Professor Amanda Rosenberger recently activated two new grants, for studies of Tennessee Heelsplitters (USFWS, $22134) and Duskytail Darters in Virginia (VDWR. $37,575). Congratulations, Amanda!

GRANTS ACTIVATED Professor Amanda Rosenberger, Co-PI and Assistant Professor Kit Wheeler, and Co-PI Robert Paine activated a grant monitoring responses of freshwater fishes to stream restoration in West TN (WTRBA, $249536). Congratulations everyone!

GRANTS ACTIVATED Assistant Professor Hannah Kinmonth-Schultz and her colleagues in Math and Chemistry have just been awarded a $2.5 million NSF grant to provide scholarships and additional support for 45 low-income, high-achieving undergraduates with demonstrated financial need.
