UNITE | EMPOWER | ENGAGE

The Center for Addiction Prevention & Support is a campus-wide network of students, faculty, and staff who are working together to reduce substance abuse among Tennessee Tech students and within the Putnam County community.

Our vision is to have a campus community that is united and empowered in its efforts to support the development of an emotionally, socially, and economically healthy student body in a safe and drug-free community.

Our mission is to unite the diverse elements of Tennessee Tech campus and the Putnam County community in a unified substance abuse prevention effort designed to empower and engage students, faculty, and staff in order to create a responsible, drug-free community.

Our purposes are to

  • Prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance abuse among Tennessee Tech students and members of the Putnam County community

  • Reduce substance-related problems at Tennessee Tech and within the Putnam County community

  • Build an infrastructure for engaging in effective prevention activities on campus and within the Putnam County community

  • Work with local community substance abuse prevention coalitions to pursue collaborative prevention activities within the Upper-Cumberland.

The project is funded through a grant by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Power of Putnam, a local substance abuse prevention coalition, is our community partner – who we work very closely with – and is the lead organization on the SAMHSA grant.

If you have any questions about our coalition or if you would like to become a member of our coalition, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Steve Seiler.
