Parent Association Board of Trustees Application

About the Board of Trustees

The Parent Association Board of Trustees is made up of committed members who have Tennessee Tech undergraduate students currently enrolled. Serving in an advisory role to the Office of New Student & Family Programs, the Board helps strengthen parent and family programs, services, and engagement opportunities to ensure a supportive and connected experience throughout their student’s journey at Tech. The Board strives to achieve the Association’s vision and mission, which are shared below.

Parent Association Vision

To create a nationally recognized organization that promotes positive university-parent relationships that support student success and assists in improving progression and graduation rates of Tennessee Technological University students.

Parent Association Mission

  • To create strong partnerships and open personal lines of communication between parents, students, and Tech.
  • To assist parents through the college transition during the time their student is transitioning, by providing support and information.
  • To encourage parents to become involved members of the university community.
  • To facilitate opportunities for parents to meet and become acquainted with other Parent Association members as well as university faculty and staff both in Cookeville and across the state of Tennessee.

Join the Board of Trustees

Are you passionate about supporting students and families at Tennessee Tech? The Parent Association Board of Trustees is a group of enthusiastic and committed parents and family members who work together to make a difference in the Tech community.

As a Trustee, you’ll help shape the Parent Association’s programs, welcome new families, and create meaningful experiences for parents across the state. You’ll serve a three-year term and be part of a team that values collaboration, creativity, and connection.

Here’s what being a Board member looks like:

  • Attending three in-person meetings a year (usually one each semester – Fall, Spring, Summer).
  • Volunteering at two summer freshman orientation sessions to greet new families and promote the Parent Association.
  • Helping lead and support our scholarship fundraising efforts.
  • Assisting in the coordination of events and programs for parents and families on campus and throughout Tennessee.
  • Mingling with other Parent Association members and Tennessee Tech parents and families at events.
  • Joining Board committees that support our mission and bring fresh ideas to life.
  • Board members spend about 3–5 hours per a month supporting the Parent Association activities. Some months are busier than others due to major events or orientation.

We’re looking for people who care deeply about student success, enjoy working with others, and are ready to jump in and help when needed. Whether you bring professional expertise, a love for volunteering your time, or just a desire to get involved to support the Parent Association’s goals, we welcome your energy and perspective.

Let’s build something great together for Golden Eagle students, for our families, and for Tennessee Tech.
