The science knowledge and analytical thinking and practical skills acquired while studying physics are an excellent foundation for a wide variety of careers, both within and beyond the traditional STEM fields. In the Computational Physics concentration, students take a core of courses common to all physics majors and also a carefully selected set of courses in computer science that are relevant to the rapidly expanding field of applying computational techniques in physics. (Includes a Computer Science minor.) Starting in the freshman year there are opportunities to get involved in the computational aspects of research conducted by department faculty.
