The science knowledge and analytical thinking and practical skills acquired while studying physics are an excellent foundation for a wide variety of careers, both within and beyond the traditional STEM fields. In the Astrophysics concentration, students take a core of courses common to all physics majors and also take set of courses in astronomy and astrophysics. These courses cover both the experimental and theoretical aspects of studying the universe, and include a minor in Astronomy. Starting in the freshman year there are opportunities to get involved in the research conducted by department faculty.
