Start your future with Tennessee Tech!
Physics is the most basic science of the universe. It involves the study of everything in physical existence, from the smallest subatomic particles to the entire universe as a whole. The Applied Physics concentration in the Physics B.S. program provides a firm foundation in physics while also allowing students to explore other technical fields to which physics can be applied. It is suitable preparation for graduate study or immediate employment in any science or technology related field.
The science knowledge and analytical thinking and practical skills acquired while studying physics are an excellent foundation for a wide variety of careers, both within and beyond the traditional STEM fields. In the Applied Physics concentration, students take a core of courses common to all physics majors and also either complete a minor in another scientific or engineering field, or follow an interdisciplinary program tailored to student interest. Starting in the freshman year there are opportunities to get involved in the research conducted by department faculty.
