Tatsuki Hakoyama is a Japanese artist based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Having experienced lifestyles in Japan, Samoa, and the United States,
his work often reflects on how culture, community, and environment
impact our identity and values. His allegorical figurative paintings are
often carefully planned to invoke a sense of mystery, reflecting on the
surreal intricacies embedded within the mundane.

Dr. Diarese George, ​a former classroom teacher in the
Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, founded
the Tennessee Educators of Color Alliance (TECA) in
Fall 2016. He and other founding board members saw
a lack of people of color involved in education policy
at all levels, as well as a lack of convening space and
resources in Tennessee for the recruitment and retention
of educators of color.

Dr. George will give an evening lecture on mentorship
and diverse learning communities
in education.

In Pursuit of Their Highest Potential: Black
Southerners and Graduate Education during
the Era of Legal Segregation

Dr. Sanders will provide a riveting book talk on her
most recent publication, the critically acclaimed and
award-winning "A Forgotten Migration: Black Southerners,
Segregation Scholarships and the Debt Owed to Public
HBCUs," which has already been the feature of a national PBS documentary: Segregation Scholarships.

Dr. Laura Evans, Guest Speaker

Evans Dr. Laura Evans is an associate professor of Art Education
and director of the Museum Education Program at the
University of North Texas. Her talk will focus on her recent
book,The Atlas of Art Crime: Thefts, Vandalism, and
Forgeries, exploring cases of art theft, vandalism, and
forgery. This engaging presentation will highlight the
connections between art, crime, and cultural
preservation, appealing to those interested in
the arts, humanities, and true crime.

Mayuko Ono Gray Drawing Exhibition

Gray Mayuko Ono Gray is an artist based in Houston, TX whose primary medium is graphite drawing. Born in Japan, she was trained in traditional Japanese calligraphy in her youth and later studied classical Western drawing.

Black Moon Black Moon Trio is committed to collaboratively effecting positive change in communities through chamber music. They reimagine the breadth of a horn, violin, and piano trio by showcasing underrepresented voices in their artistic programming and original commissions, inspiring young musicians and non-musicians alike through captivating educational programs, and connecting community members through the arts.
