Giving to Interdisciplinary Student Travel

Your donation to the interdisciplinary travel fund has the power to help undergraduate students experience the world! This fund supports co-curricular travel for students to experience arts and sciences in a hands-on, real-world fashion.

Faculty members plan a trip for students from two or more disciplines designed to enrich students’ experience of topics including biodiversity, geography, geology, ecology, and history, among others, while immersing them in the culture of the region visited.

Your donation would directly benefit students by defraying the cost of travel, giving more students the ability to participate!

Funded Travel

Last year, donations to the College of Arts and Sciences new interdisciplinary student travel fund allowed one group of students traveled to Panama and one group to Belgium and the Netherlands.

During the Panama trip, participants hiked in the rainforest on both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of Panama, snorkeled in the Pacific, near Panama City and in the Caribbean at Bocas del Toro, toured a sustainable permaculture farm on the island of Bastimentos, and visited historic ruins of Panama.

Students participating in the Belgium/Netherlands trip experienced culture, history, art, architecture, and advanced public works systems (Delta Works) at locations including Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Delta Works in the Netherlands, Antwerp and Ghent.
