Dr. Brad Cohen honored as Wildlife Conservationist of the Year by Tennessee Wildlife Federation
Associate professor of Biology Dr. Brad Cohen was named Conservationist of the Year
by the Tennessee Wildlife Federation at their 60th Annual Conservation Achievement
Awards.
Dr. Cohen and his students in the Cohen Wildlife Lab conduct applied research to understand how habitat management and landscape conditions affect wildlife populations. This research is paired with a strong outreach component that facilitates communication and collaboration among scientists, policy-makers, and the public. The data from Dr. Cohen’s lab informs wildlife management policy-making across the state and has already led to the creation of waterfowl rest areas, updated banding protocols, and adaptive harvest models that guide conservation in Tennessee.
